Will Kejriwal gain sympathy by running his Government from Jail?

In a dramatic event, Kejriwal was arrested on 21st March by ED. Like he had given a hint earlier also that he will run the Delhi Government from Jail, will Kejriwal gain sympathy by running his Government from Jail? Well, wherever there is an AAP Government, we can expect a full Masala movie-type storyline. It is just there in the DNA of the AAP party. Kejriwal was ducking ED summons like how our talented cricketers do it for bouncers on Gabba pitch in Australia, little aware that ED is well equipped with slow bouncers also.

On 21st March, just when the High Court refused to grant interim protection from ED summons. The ED team went to Kejriwal’s house all equipped and arrested him. They have had enough since November by sending 9 summons and Kejriwal not appearing before them any time.

Some people call it a vendetta politics, some will say finally Kejriwal is reaping what he has sowed. Most of the senior leaders in AAP are in jail for some or the other corruption charges. Kejriwal has issued two orders from Jail one for the water issue and the other for health-related issues. Now the big question is what in the world made Kejriwal talk about these two basic issues when he landed in ED custody?

If he is thinking that doing these antics will help him garner Delhi’s public sympathy then he is mistaken big time. The elections will come and other parties will also give freebies and people will vote for them. It doesn’t matter if the freebies come from the AAP party or any other parties, people will still vote for them. This is the sad reality.

People talking about vendetta politics should also think that even though central agencies are under the Modi Government. The police forces are under the local state government. Have we heard of any arrests of BJP leaders in any of the states? The answer is a big NO. Does that mean all the BJP and ally party leaders are clean? This is a debatable issue but again it shows a lack of intent from the opposition parties to act against corruption.

They don’t even talk about it, even though they are aware of the black spots. Why don’t opposition leaders make arrests against any leaders associated with the NDA party? Because they are not clean and they fear if they do anything as tit for tat, they will be in more trouble.

So, even if Kejriwal runs his office from ED custody or Delhi parliament, his political appeal to the public is not that strong yet. If he is thinking about a rebellion happening on the Delhi streets opposing the chief minister’s arrest then he is living in his dream world. The AAP party needs to fix many open loops seriously if they want to stay relevant in active Indian politics. Their whole party might be charged in the liquor case which will make them irrelevant in politics.

Whether Kejriwal will come out of this trouble with flying colours or will become colourless, only time will tell.
